BOOK TIMELINE _{1980 - 1989}

1980 : Dayanita Singh enrols at the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad (NID), where she studies Visual Communication.

1981 : Singh meets Zakir Hussain. She spends the following six winters photographing him along with several classical musicians on their annual tours.

1986 : Zakir Hussain is published by Himalayan Books. Singh is a student at the NID when the book is released.

1987 : Singh enrols at the International Center of Photography, New York (ICP) to study photojournalism and documentary photography.

1989 : Singh meets Mona Ahmed while working on assignment as a photojournalist.
