Pocket Museum

How to Turn the Book into an Exhibition
  1. First, buy the Museum Bhavan box from Steidl Verlag. In the box you will find nine museums:
Museum of Machines, Museum of Men, Little Ladies Museum, Museum of Photography, Museum of Vitrines, Museum of Furniture, Godrej Museum, Printing Press Museum and Ongoing Museum. The box also contains a text called Conversation Chambers

  2. Lay a jacket/coat or kurta flat and place the nine books on it, positioning them where pockets can be stitched. If the jacket is short, some of the books (pockets) can be tucked inside as
    well

  3. Cut nine pockets of size 12 x 16 cm including the portion that you will hem inside

  4. Stitch the nine pockets on the garment

  5. Slip the museums inside the pockets

  6. The exhibition is now ready to open

  7. Walk onto the street and pull out one book at a time and stretch it with your hands and share it
with whoever would like to see it. At first people may walk away but some will return. Regardless of whether they stop or not, you should continue standing, as though you were a museum vitrine

  8. You could wear the jacket on the metro, a plane, or even a train and exhibit the work to fellow passengers

  9. Alternatively, carry two books (instead of wearing a nine-book-pocket jacket) to a dinner or to work
