How to Turn the Book into an Exhibition
-
Buy 72 copies of File Room from Steidl Verlag
-
Using a sharp cutter and a cutting board, take apart two of the books, removing their binding. Then cut the images from inside these two books so that they are cut right to the edge
-
Next, take an archival glue stick or archival tissue and paste the newly cut images on the covers of the remaining 70 books. In this way, you would have changed the cover of all 70 books and you will have 70 images available for display
-
Then take 280 L-clips and begin to place the books on the wall. Each book needs four L-clips to hold it in place
-
Finally, download the File Room blurb from the Steidl website and place it on the wall alongside the books
-
The exhibition is now ready to open
-
Once the exhibition is over, you may sell each of the individual books for a slightly higher
amount than you bought them since they now all have different covers. You could put a stamp of your institution or residence on the inside, so you create the provenance for that particular copy that someone may acquire
