Zakir Hussain Maquette

How to Turn the Book into an Exhibition
  1. Buy four to six copies of the Zakir Hussain Maquette from Steidl Verlag. You can even buy 44 if your space and budget allow for all the pages to be displayed

  2. In the package you will find: the grey slipcover, the book, the reader and a poster

  3. Place the slipcover, with Blu Tack on the wall, as an introduction to the exhibition

  4. Take your copies of the book, choose the dou- ble spreads you want to show and L-clip each spread onto the wall in a vertical line. If you are using 44 books, you can make a larger grid, even four rows

  5. Open one of the posters and pin it to the wall

  6. Open copies of the reader and L-clip the double spreads onto the wall

  7. Finally, take the back of a second slipcover and put that on to the wall as a closing statement on book building

  8. The exhibition is now ready to open

  9. Once the show is over, you can sell all the books. In this way, you will have a zero-cost exhibition with no return-shipping, no insur- ance, no permissions. All you have to do is buy the book

  10. You could even sell it for a slightly higher price, as it now carries the provenance of your exhibition
